Meet Brandon Willey: A Highly Qualified Tutor
Within the TutorTok company, we highly value our staff and make the best selections of applicants possible to ensure that students get the help they deserve. One of our newest tutor additions is Brandon Willey. Brandon will be tutoring a multitude of courses this semester (CHEM 1113, CHEM 1133, CHEM 1400, CHEM 2100, MATH 1300, Math 2300, MATH 2400, PHYS 1110, PHYS 1120).
Willey is originally from Huntington Beach, California. He’s a 19-year-old sophomore, majoring in chemistry and minoring in business. Education is one of his passions, and makes him a great fit on our staff. Some of his hobbies include surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and doing any type of outdoor activity. Brandon is involved with Sigma Nu fraternity. He enjoys being a scholarship chairman and would like to obtain that role.
The reason he wanted to become a tutor is because he loves sharing knowledge with students. STEM subjects can be extremely challenging and almost nauseating at times due to the lack of effort put in by professors to make it exciting. Brandon is looking forward to changing that narrative and promoting STEM in a positive light, by going deeper into topics and helping others appreciate the beauty of STEM subjects.
Brandon also has an impressive academic background. He earned several medals through the “Golden Shield Awards” at Marina High School for academic merit and commitment to helping the science department. He was a Lab Assistant at Marina High School, where he would help run lab experiments for students. Brandon also participated in SNHS (Science National Honors Society), to help promote scientific involvement at Marina High School. With that, he is interested in conducting research and furthering his involvement in CU’s chemistry department.
Willey has several future goals set at this time. As mentioned, he would like to become more involved in the chemistry department, along with researching specific materials science at CU. Brandon hopes to become a TA at some point, and possibly work an internship with NASA over the 2024 summer. He hopes to excel in his degrees, and possibly attend graduate school for chemistry afterwards.
We are looking forward to a great semester with Brandon, and we know that he will make the same impact with you that he has made on us. Welcome to the team Brandon!
